Liberal - Politics matters to you, and you aren't afraid to share your left-leaning views. You would never be caught voting for a conservative candidate.

Am I A Hat Lady?

Sep. 23rd, 2008 | 06:27 pm
mood: tiredtired
music: "Crazy In Love" (Beyonce cover) by The Magic Numbers

From ronniegue

Google the phrase "(Your name) looks like" and find 6 of the best ones. DON'T FORGET TO PUT IT IN QUOTES, otherwise it won't work.

1. Chris looks like an old woman in that hat but he's still ready to lick Chastity!

2. Chris looks like Gene Kelly.

3. Chris looks like Kate.

4. Chris looks like a mouse?

5. Chris looks like he put on some weight in that photo

6. Chris looks like he’s ready to get some nipple action going on...

Truth be told, I think I like the first one best. As long as I get to look like either Izzy Blow (L) or Anna Piaggi (R):

Les chansons d'amour

Jun. 30th, 2008 | 01:23 pm
location: office
music: see below

Finally saw Christophe Honore's "Les chansons d'amour". I can't say that it's a great movie though it's definitely a good one. I liked it well enough; it's very charming.

OK. I actually liked it a lot. It's one of those little imperfect movies that you grow to love despite its shortcomings. Plus, it features Louis Garrel.

A Birthday Greeting & A Random Thought

Jun. 18th, 2008 | 06:00 am
music: "I Know Ur Girlfriend Hates Me" by Annie

First things first: Joyeux anniversaire, chéri.

Though you just lost at the Ordina Open, don't worry too much. You're just 22. Just do well at Wimbledon next week. You have your ranking points to protect. Remember, Rog didn't win his first Slam until he was 22.

I don't know why but it's only now that I've begun to appreciate Matisse.

I find his "The Dinner Table (Harmony in Red)" quite erotic.

Dans la merco benz - Benjamin Biolay

May. 3rd, 2008 | 03:12 am
mood: melancholymelancholy
music: see below

I've been trying for weeks now but I just can't seem to get this song out of my head. And for good reason. Benjamin Biolay is, simply put, a genius. Where to start? The bass(?) and guitar duet that starts the song and immediately hooks you in, the jangly rhythm and country beat, the breathy vocal delivery that's so intimate I can almost imagine Biolay whispering in my ear, the freaking mariachi trumpets that come in at the start of the chorus (this, in my opinion, is what elevates this little gem to a work of genius--very Morricone, but not quite), the chorus' catchy lyrics itself (Mon amour est lasse/ le temps passe), Biolay's own backing vocals softly intoning the lyric Petite connase pourquoi f'tu ta radasse during the second verse, the layered instrumental bridge, the hazy and melancholic atmosphere the song ultimately imbibes. It's like a song from some lost Philippe Garrel or Christophe Honoré film. A standout from the ludicrously good Trash yéyé.

Gael's Christening

Apr. 7th, 2008 | 04:03 pm
mood: calmcalm
music: "Sentimental Heart" by She and Him

Last Saturday, I attended Gael's christening. He turns one this Sunday and is having another party to celebrate it. He likes to walk even though he can't yet support himself. When placed back on his stroller, he looks longingly at the floor.
